Ada Library To Change Hours

The Ada Public Library, a branch of Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL), is making a change to its hours of operation for a trial period effective March though August 2015.

Beginning March 3, the Ada Library will open earlier, at noon, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ada Library’s new open hours will be: Tuesday and Thursday 12 to 8 p.m.; Wednesday and Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Library will be closed Saturday through Monday.

This trial change in hours of operation was in response to popular vote from a community survey held in January 2015. Library customers could vote in person at the Ada Library or online through larl.org. The Lake Agassiz Regional Library would like to thank the community for participating in the survey and for submitting feedback.

Bagley Public Library to Relocate to Renovated Facility

Lake Agassiz Regional Library is pleased to announce that after 16 years of fundraising efforts by the Clearwater Library Foundation, a new Bagley Library facility will be opening soon. The Clearwater Library Foundation purchased the former Wee-Care Center in 2012, and has made great strides renovating the former daycare facility into a library.

The new library facility will provide additional space, off-street parking, handicap accessibility, and a community room for use by citizens of Bagley, Clearwater County, and surrounding communities.

Renovations include: remodeled restrooms, installation of more features for the disabled, and refurbishment of community gathering spaces. The Bagley Lions Club will paint the interior of the facility with materials provided through a Valspar paint grant, and carpet will be installed this spring.

The Clearwater Library Foundation continues to raise funds to purchase a handicap-accessible door button, furnishings, signage, window treatments, and extraneous expenses. Donations are appreciated. Please send to: Clearwater Library Foundation, P.O. Box 74, Bagley, MN  56621.

Donations can also be made to the Bagley Library, a branch of the Lake Agassiz Regional Library, in person, by mail, or online at: www.larl.org/donate.  All donations are tax-deductible, and will be used for shelving, furnishings, and expenses for the new library facility.

Gonvick LINK Site to Remain Open Until Further Notice

The Gonvick LINK Site, of the Lake Agassiz Regional Library, will remain open until further notice.

A previous information release stated that March 6 would mark the last day of services for the LINK Site, however, further funding discussion is taking place and the Gonvick LINK Site will remain open indefinitely.

Reminder: The Zinghoppers reading enrichment program, sponsored by LARL and the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, will continue to take place on Monday, March 24 at 9:30 a.m. The Zinghoppers are an Emmy Award-winning musical group that specializes in fun, interactive programming for young children and families. 

The event will be held at the Gonvick Community Center.

Clearwater County Budget Shortfall Prompts Gonvick LINK Site Closing

The Gonvick LINK Site, of the Lake Agassiz Regional Library, will be closing its doors on March 7, 2014 due to a Clearwater County budgetary shortfall.  The last day of services will be on March 6, 2014.

Residents currently using the Gonvick LINK Site can use their library cards at the nearby Bagley Public Library, or at any LARL location. The book drop will be available for use until the 10^th of March.

The Zinghoppers reading enrichment program, sponsored by LARL and the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, will continue to take place on Monday, March 24 at 9:30 a.m. The Zinghoppers are an Emmy Award winning musical group that specializes in fun, interactive programming for young children and families. The event will be held at the Gonvick Community Center.

LARL elects 2012 Board

The Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL) Board elected officers and the Executive Committee for 2012. They are:

Summer Reading Program Theme Teen Video Challenge -Entries due February 1, 2012

The Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL) Youth Services Department wants to make sure all area teens are aware of the Teen Video Challenge, a new project offered through the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP). CSLP is the organization responsible for the Summer Reading Program LARL offers each year.

The Teen Video Challenge is asking Minnesota teens to create a video promoting the 2012 Teen Summer Reading theme, "Own the Night."

Teens could win $275 and an award for their local LARL location. Each state will have a winner, and the videos will be shared with libraries across the country.

According to the entry form, videos must be submitted by February 1, 2012.
