Highway 64 construction between Akeley, Laporte begins June 9

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 64 between Akeley and Highway 200 in the Laporte area will experience daytime lane closures when a shoulder widening and paving project begins Monday, June 9, weather permitting.

The 15-mile project will include new paved shoulder and aggregate shoulder along the route. Flaggers and pilot cars will be present, with some delays to be expected.

Anderson Brothers of Brainerd is the contractor for the project. Work is expected to be complete by June 20.

Drivers are urged to slow down to 55 mph in the work zones.

When the project is complete, motorists will see a smoother, safer ride along Highway 64.
