Emergency detour on Highways 59 and 108 in Pelican Rapids

BEMIDJI, Minn. – An emergency detour on Highway 59 and Highway 108 in Pelican Rapids begins today as the bitter cold temperatures caused a break in a water main. The intersection will be closed at Highway 59 and the south junction of Highway 108.

Crews will establish the work zone and detour this afternoon, and begin groundwork on Saturday. The actual repairs will only last a couple days, the detour however will remain in effect to allow additional cure time for the concrete replacement.

The cure time requirement will make it appear as though no work is happening, but is essential for a safe operating intersection. Overall the detour is expected to last about a week, weather permitting.

Local access to all businesses will be maintained throughout the project. Through traffic will be detoured on Otter Tail County roads 4, 21, 28 and 41.
