Applications sought for State Mental Health Advisory Council


The Governor of the State of Minnesota is seeking applications for membership on the State Advisory Council on Mental Health (Council).
The open positions on the Council are:
  • An adult consumer (recipient) of mental health and/or substance abuse services
  • A family member on adult consumer of mental health and/or substance abuse services
  • A family physician
  • County Commissioners (Twin Cities Seven County Metro)
The Council provides recommendations to the Governor, Legislature, and state departments to ensure a comprehensive continuum of mental health services is available to all Minnesota residents. The Council meets on the first Thursday of each month, excluding July.

In making appointments, consideration is given to achieving demographic diversity, as well as geographic, age, gender and cultural balance. Other factors include consideration of individuals in recovery, the applicant̢۪s area of interest and knowledge of the state̢۪s public mental health system.

Interested individuals should complete an application form or request one by sending an email to mentalhealth.dhs.state.mn.us.

Terms of membership are four years. The application deadline is Feb. 25, 2014, or until the appointments are made.
