Highway 10, Heartland Trail project begins May 28

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 10 will encounter lane closures and possible delays on the east side of Detroit Lakes when a box culvert installation project begins May 28, weather permitting.

During the first several days of the project, motorists will experience lane closures while crews build temporary crossovers in the median.

For the remainder of the project, all traffic will shift to either the eastbound or westbound lanes while crews install a box culvert under Highway 10.

All work on the project is expected to be complete by late June, weather permitting.

The project is funded by the Department of Natural Resources. The box culvert will connect the future Heartland Trail route with the city of Detroit Lakes. It will provide a safe crossing under Highway 10 for bicyclists, pedestrians and snowmobilers.
