The
Minnesota Department of Transportation will complete several road and safety
improvements this summer:
· Resurface Main Avenue between the
· Replace several traffic signals along
· Install a pedestrian-activated crosswalk signal on
· Improve pedestrian accessibility at several intersections along Highway 10 and Highway 75
· Install underground fiber optic cable along various roads
· Install electronic changeable message signs on Interstate 94 near the
Work
on May 20 will begin with pedestrian accessibility improvements on Highway 10
and Highway 75. Crews will also start replacing traffic signals on eastbound Main Avenue between Eighth Street and
Fourth Street .
Pedestrians will experience sidewalk detours, and motorists will experience
lane closures. Crews will complete other areas in phases through the summer.
Highway
10 and Highway 75 will remain open with intermittent lane closures throughout
the project. Work may require short-term closures of Fourth Street and
Fifth Street at
the railroad tracks north of Main Avenue .
MnDOT
strongly encourages truck traffic going through Moorhead on Highway 10 to use I-94 between West Fargo
and Highway 336.
Work
is expected to be complete by the end of September, weather permitting.
When
the project is complete, motorists will notice a smoother ride along four
blocks of Main Avenue in downtown Moorhead . Pedestrians will have improved safety and accessibility
along Highway 10 and Highway 75.
