Fargo Construction Traffic Shift on Monday

FARGO, N.D. (July 5, 2013) – Starting, Monday July 8 at 6 a.m. CST, the North Dakota Department of Transportation – Fargo district – will be shifting traffic control throughout the eastbound work zone. Crews will be closing the right lane of traffic on Interstate 94 (I-94) from 9th Street South to the interstate pedestrian bridge and re-opening the left lane of traffic, weather permitting. To keep two lanes of eastbound traffic open from the Interstate 29(I-29)/I-94 tri-level ramp to University Avenue South, motorists will be using the left shoulder and left lane for travel. Prior to this interstate stretch, traffic will be down to one lane.

The new closures will start the next phase of the concrete pavement repair (CPR) project on I-94. Crews will continue to remove deteriorated concrete and replace these sections with new concrete throughout the work zone.

The westbound work zone will not change. The left lane of traffic will remain closed on I-94 westbound from University Avenue South to 9th Street South as concrete cures and CPR work continues.

The interstate pedestrian bridge will also remain closed for use.

During construction:

  • Speeds are reduced to 40 mph
  • Driving lanes are narrowed
  • Crews are working close to traffic
  • Flaggers will be present when necessary
  • Motorists will experience delays

Help prevent work zone crashes. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, allow extra distance between their vehicles and the vehicle in front of them, use caution and obey flaggers and posted signs.
