Lane closures on Highway 38 north of Grand Rapids begin Sept. 15

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 38 north of Grand Rapids will encounter lane closures beginning the week of Sept. 15.

Lane closures will occur along a 15-mile stretch between Pughole Lake and Marcell (between mile markers 12 and 27). Flaggers also will be present at all times.

Work will be done mostly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Crews will work through October and return periodically to that section over the next year.

Highway 38 has many curves and hills, which makes seeing workers more difficult. Motorists are urged to slow down, be alert and obey all posted speed limits and flagger directions.

The work is being done to prepare for a 2017 reconstruction project. That project will replace culverts, stabilize slopes, enhance safety, and improve road conditions.
