BEMIDJI, Minn. - A project to improve Highway 11 from Greenbush to 2.3 miles west of Roseau is underway with construction of turn lanes and shoulder work.
The work is part of a $6.5 million project to improve the condition of this portion of Highway 11 by replacing culverts, adding turn lanes and resurfacing the road.
A two-phase detour will be in place to accommodate the work. The first detour phase starts May 21 when eastbound traffic from Greenbush will be routed to Roseau County Road 4 for 8 miles, then north on County Road 3 for 5.5 miles to County Road 2, then back to Highway 11. Westbound traffic will follow the same detour in reverse. The first detour will be in place until June 7.
Information on the second phase detour will be announced later.
The entire project is expected to be completed in mid-August, weather permitting.
