Highway 59 roundabout construction in Detroit Lakes begins May 12

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 59 in Detroit Lakes will experience possible delays when a roundabout construction project at Willow Street and Long Lake Road begins Monday, May 12, weather permitting.

Highway 59 will remain open throughout the project with reduced speeds. The stop signs will remain in place until the project is complete.

Long Lake Road will close between Highway 59 and Longview Drive beginning May 12. Motorists will need to use an alternate route.

Willow Street will close after Long Lake Road reopens in mid-June.

Landwehr Construction, Inc., of St. Cloud is the prime contractor for the $1.7 million project. Work is scheduled to be complete by late July, weather permitting.

The project will result in increased safety and reduced overall delays. Additional information about roundabouts in Minnesota is available at www.mndot.gov/roundabouts/.
